![]() ![]() Unfortunately atm there is no brand that is considerably trustworthy. Microsoft is still scum but now Sony is also just scum. PS4 generation faltered as it became the popular brand. Early console of Sony were more on quality. They originally were renowned before consoles for their ability to make products that last. last year the mgs hd collection was pulled from digital sale + psnow because of some licensing issue. Sony has no reason to start leaning in this direction. the problem with mgs games is that mgs1 is stuck on the ps3 and while you can get mgs 2/3 HD + mgs4 on psnow for the ps4 / ps5, your at the mercy of playstation. This might mean also if one day a new company was trustworthy and designed their console entertainment to last people would have more faith and lean towards that company. It's not like people don't move on to the new but they get they aren't cheated out of their entertainment due to a unnecessary lifespan. They're a stupid unnecessary gimmick holding the industry back. Remove the need of internal clocks and stop worrying about dumb trophies and them being manipulated. So I don't feel PS4's trophy system is a good enough excuse to put a time limit on a product i own. I mean it's been 30-35 years since the original Nintendo was made and people will still go back to play it as well as their gameboy super Nintendo sega genesis gamecube PS1 PS2 and N64. however with an unnecessary internal clock to kill off both physical and digital you can no longer trust any game. In regards this is where physical copies become better then digital. With use of stores online there shouldn't even be a need to remove selling a product even. ![]() the people who can't afford the new or don't want the new just might lose out on what they wanted and may never decided to get the new console. It's not like it's that profitable for them to keep tossing the old because they designed a new console. I mean I would love to just go back and play games on old console once in a while. If PlayStation eventually discontinues you lose all your digital content same with Xbox and Nintendo and they have shut down stores consoles no longer modern meaning getting new games from those stores has been removed. If for some reason steam shut down then you lose your steam games. The problem with all gaming platforms atm is that you could lose any one. Honestly I think it's shitty when a company designs consoles to have a lifespan. The first Xbox was intentional to fall apart after 2 years and with that design it also was creating house fires at the time. ![]() XBOX did that with their first couple consoles too. Modern Vintage Gamer explains the initial issue and how the new firmware update fixes the problem better than I ever could, so you should give the video posted above a watch.Ya I agree. If the battery died and was replaced without a connection, users would no longer be able to play their stored or physical games.Īnd this worried PS4 users due to the fact Sony could eventually take the PS4 servers offline in the future, and their games would be lost to time. In order to keep games playable, users would have to maintain a constant connection to the PlayStation Network, or buy a new battery for the system, which in itself was no big deal, but the new battery would also need to connect to the servers for authentication purposes. The problem the CMOS issued caused was that if the battery died, the system clock would not be able to tell internal time, which rendered games unplayable. Trophies are also once again earnable, but they won’t have a date attached. Now, PS4 consoles with a dead battery can once again play games which are no longer crashing at startup. The issue was addressed with the release of firmware 9.0.0 which is good news, considering if the console’s battery died, it would reset the clock back to zero and render both physical and digital games unplayable. The CMOB issue was discovered back in April of this year, and it has taken a while for Sony to address the issue. It appears Sony has fixed the PS4’s CMOS issue, which affected the console’s internal clock battery. ![]()
